Michael, we met a long time ago as mutual friends of Stephanie. You were very nice to me on my visit to New York back then. I was just doing some research on the firefighters that were present that horrible day when i found this site on Google. I want to thank you for the incredible bravery you displayed that day. May God bless you and let you rest in peace. Oscar

I am amazed at the faith that is the foundation of this site. The pictures of the family and friends are so much about love and wonderful memories.
My daughter is a recipient of a Michael Lynch Memorial Scholarship. You have no idea how much the scholarship has meant to my family. It is a misunderstanding that all children who lost a parent on 9/11 are exempt from college costs.
As I was visiting your website in order to learning about the fundraising dinner I had the opportunity to get to know the wonderful person Michael Lynch was and I am not surprised at the success the foundation has had honoring the life of such a unique young man. As the proud daughter of a retired firefighter I know the special person that it takes to be a firefighter and the bond that exists unconditionally in the brotherhood of the department.
As a 9/11 widow I am thankful to God for a family, much like yours, that offers the strenght for me and my children to manage and face the challenges that continue to haunt us all. So with our faith, family and friends as support, we all manage to recognize God's gifts and not question His plan.
After viewing the photo album on the site I know that I have seen Jack Lynch at 9/11 ceremonies. I look forward to meeting the Lynch family in order to personally show my appreciation for the strenght that you have had in honoring Michael Lynch and creating such a remarkable foundation.
Be well.
May God Bless us all.

No One Forgets a Hero
I remember that day. Oh yes, I remember it so well. Just the day before you walked the streets of New York City with a smile on your face and a bounce in your step, enjoying every moment of life. But then- then you just gave it up. Just like that. Something you loved so, so much and you surrendered in an instant.
Why? Why did you do it Uncle Michael? I know you enjoyed life, even with its ups and downs. I have heard so many of my family’s stories about you. The time your friends shaved of your hair and eyebrows while you were asleep. You made so many people laugh. After you did it, did you look back on the faces of those you left behind? Once smiling faces have turned to scowls of anger and despair. Once full hearts have been torn in places that can’t be sewed back together. If you could see the faces of those you loved, would you do it again? Would you give up your life again?
The way you ran into that burning building- it was amazing. Not once did you look back at the life you were leaving behind. Countless other lives were saved because you gave up yours. Did it hurt? Were you scared? You knew what was coming, so why didn’t you run away? I would have. But I am a coward, not like you. You are as brave as a mouse walking up to a lion. And you deserve to be in a better place, a place where nothing can touch you. You are impervious to pain and hatred. Your memory is important to so many people. No wonder my grandpa named his fishing boat The Music Man after you. I’ll never forget you. No one will. No one forgets a hero.

Every September 11, in school, our teachers talk about all the firefighters trying to save us, and many losing lives. Every time, I choke up and tear up. I look at pictures today of you and just sit and think. Last night, I had a sleepover with my friends and I talked all about you. I was 4 years old when you died, my brother's age today, who's middle name is your first. I miss you much. I love you.

Happy Birthday little brother! Today, you would have been 37 yrs old. You would think that with each passing year, your birthday, September 11th, that all these dates would become easier. They don't. They actually become more difficult. With each passing birthday or anniversary it reminds us all of how young you were when you were taken from us. How much of your life you still had before you. How tragic your loss has been for our family, yet how increasingly heroic you are in our eyes for the sacrifice you made. What a tremendous sacrifice it was and is! I know that on days like this, when we are sad, it is because of how much we miss you and how our lives have become impacted by not having you with us. Your laughter, your comedy and your compassion filled our lives for 30 yrs. Today, there is a void clearly defined in our lives and that is where you used to be. It may be selfish, but I wish that tonight you were here with us and celebrating your 37th. Happy birthday in Heaven, Michael...let us know every once in a while when you are with us!

Michael,
I always reflect on this day, the anniversary of your memorial mass, and remember how many people came out to honor you and pay respect to you. I always take time to read the eulogy's as well as they are very comforting to me. A few days more and it will be your birthday, I can't believe that it has been 6 years without you. I miss you, your sense of humor, your smile. Your are truly missed brother.

Uncle Michael,
I love you and miss you with all my heart. I read your section of the 'Firehouse' book and thought, 'That was my uncle. I love him and miss him.' We all wish, the whole family, that you were back and safe, and we could all see you at the Jersey Shore. I wrote a poem about you at school, and it is hanging out in the hallway by my classroom. Many people cried after reading it, and I understand why. You are in God's hand, up in heaven. Thank you for saving the citizens of New York. I love you.
