Michael: I did not know you personally but you touched my life deeply. I am a friend of your brother, Kevin, and have prayed for you and your family ever since I first heard that you were missing. When I read about you and heard the stories from Kevin when you were finally found, I knew that you died as you lived -- in the service of helping others! I hope your family finds comfort knowing that you now rest in the Loving Arms of Our Lord. I have enrolled your name on the memorial scroll of honor at St. Joseph Church. May God bless you! Barbara (and Jim)

Even though I am no longer in NYC I will never forget how you welcomed me to the neighborhood. Your kindness and bravery will never be forgotten.

We remember you today, Michael. We remember that tragic day when you and so many others were taken from us. We have learned to appreciate life, our families and our friends. To be thankful each day for all that we have. Thank you, Michael, for watching over us and for helping us to understand what is truly important in life. We will never forget. To the Lynch family - our thoughts and prayers are with you. With love, Stacy, Matt, Brianne, Daniel and Erin Rose Munch

Dear Lynch family: Its Ruthy's sister writing from Chicago - just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you all today. Just got done watching the beautiful ceremony at Ground Zero on TV - the young people who read were quite an inspiration. Michael and I are godparents to Ruthy and Fred's daughter, so I think of him alot. We keep his picture in our car, next to our angel plaque, and pray to him when we are in need of courage. There are ceremonies planned out here at the kids' schools today - Colleen proudly wore her NYFD shirt to hers! We will continue to pray for your peace, and peace in this crazy, beautiful world of ours! Love Peggy

On behalf of my wife Kathleen, my sons Liam and Ciaran, and my parents Tom and Mary, I would like to let all of Mike's great and loving family (including all those aunts and uncles and cousins here and in Ireland!) that the O'Hara branch of the clan are keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers on this sad anniversary. We are especially thinking about you, Jack and Kathleen, and all of Mike's brothers and sisters, and especially the love of Mike's life, Stephanie. Being 20+ years older than Mike, I never really knew him. Indeed, having lived in Cleveland, Ohio for most of my childhood, I never really got to know the Lynch clan as well as I would have if I had grown up in New York. (The Chieftain would have seen to that!) Still, after seeing all the photos on this wonderful website, and especially after hearing all the stories about Mike at those heartbreaking memorials, I feel as though I do know him now. Mike must have been a terrific guy, and although his life ended far too soon,it's clear to me that it was a very happy one, spent in the bosom of a large and loving family. For that, I am glad— glad for Mike, and glad for all of you. Mike died on September 11th trying to save lives. His sacrifice was in the finest tradition of the FDNY, and for that reason he will forever be part of the sad and heroic legend that has already grown up around this day. Mike is also part of another proud and even older tradition— the one established by the many sons and daughters of Ireland who have given their lives for America throughout history. Most importantly,Mike will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved him— and those are many hearts, indeed. God bless Mike, Stephanie and all the Lynches. If there is any silver lining to this great black cloud, it is that my family and I have learned first hand what great people all of you are.

I am sitting here crying. My mother died recently and it has been heart wrenching too. Your family is so very brave and kindhearted, your web page for Michael is beautiful. He sounded very loved, and very loving. My mother is with me as I write this note, she is telling me that your family is blessed. You shared so much with Michael and he shared his life with soooo many people, I know he was a hero, a friend, a son, an uncle, a firefighter and I know he was in love. He was so very lucky! Know that God is with your family and that you will be comforted by him. I am constantly comforted by God and by my memories of my mother. Tears will continue for a very long time, but that is because of love. I will pray for your family and for Michael. Please pray for me and my mother, I too have been loved, and I very much miss her. God Bless you all, Lesley Talty
