An Irish Friend
Anywhere, Any State USA - 09/11/2002 07:36AM
Through mutual friends -- and through this website -- I've learned about your family and shared your pain over the last year. Our families have many similarities -- Irish heritage, Catholic faith, numerous siblings and cousins, strong opinions, powerful emotions, commitment to public service, and pride in war heroes like my uncle (a German POW during WWII), my cousin (still MIA from the Vietnam War) and your Michael. Today, on the anniversary of Michael's loss, I am thinking of you and praying for you.
The hour of the waning of love has beset us,
And weary and worn are our sad souls now;
Let us part, ere the season of passion forget us,
With a kiss and a tear on thy drooping brow.

Mike, It's been a year now and everything is still different somehow. I forget sometines that your not here. Sometimes when I walk into the Clipper I expect to see you there behind your DJ equipment screaming out "Shot Time" over your microphone. But then I realize that thats not possible. I miss you and I hate the fact that your not around. I really wish you could have met my little boy, you would've really liked him. He is always in a good mood and laughing, like you, and you should have been a big part of his life. I just want you to know that we all miss you and how much you were appreciated and loved.
Keep the tunes going and we will all see you again.
Your buddy,
Nick

Dear Mike, One year ago I was running away from Tower 2 when it
was falling. I did not have the courage you had that day. One year later I still ask myself why did the Lord spare me that day. All
I know is that when I look into my daughter's eyes, I remember what
a good friend you always were to me. I will never forget you.
May God bless you and your entire family
your friend forever,

Adelaide, South Australia Australia - 09/10/2002 07:02PM
As I watched a television show last night I saw in Michael's father's eyes, the pain and anguish that can only be understood by another who has experienced the death of a child. As one bereaved parent to another, I offer my prayers for God's gift of healing. As I write this it is already September 11th here in South Australia, this country has asked all drivers to put on their headlights at precisely the time the first plane struck, all Government flags are flying at half mast, memorial services are being held throughout the country for the victims and their families. On this day of profound sadness, all I can offer is my prayers, there are no words to take away the pain and heartache.
Michael has " gone from sight, gone from all who loved him, but gone no further than God, and God is always near."
He will be FOREVER YOUNG, FOREVER LOVED, FOREVER LONGED FOR.
May God bless you, and give you the strength to carry on.I wish you peace. Brenda McLean

Dear Lynch Family and Stephanie--
I have been struck in these past few days by the images of 9/11 past and present. The tragedy of 9/11/01 is being relived in many painful ways--images that are hard for all of us to see. Every time I see Jack on TV or talk to Kathleen (daughter), I realize that there are 2 ways to remember this day--reliving the trauma or looking at how the pieces of "the puzzle" have had to be rearranged and how we have each moved to a different place in the past year. I think the second is by far the more healthy and helpful way to commemorate this day and any person lost on it. It seems that your family is working to commemorate Michael in a way that will live on and are trying (as hard as it may be) to put the pieces of the puzzle together so that you can make it through each day--and at the same time are helping others to get a grasp on how this has changed life for us all.
My prayers are with you on this and every day. Michael's strength on that day is only matched by the strength with which you have dealt with this first year of a changed life. May God bless your hearts with peace in the days to come.
Love, Tara Hughes
