Dear Michael, Happy Birthday. Think about you always, but especially on special days. We really miss you and still can't believe that you are not here. But I feel your prescence all the time, in little ways and every day. Miss you little brother. Maureen

Happy Birthday - we miss you every day. John misses you more than ever. He gets very sad when he hears some old songs and even with some new ones that he knows you'd love. Thinking of you always!

Happy Birthday little brother! Today, you would have been 37 yrs old. You would think that with each passing year, your birthday, September 11th, that all these dates would become easier. They don't. They actually become more difficult. With each passing birthday or anniversary it reminds us all of how young you were when you were taken from us. How much of your life you still had before you. How tragic your loss has been for our family, yet how increasingly heroic you are in our eyes for the sacrifice you made. What a tremendous sacrifice it was and is! I know that on days like this, when we are sad, it is because of how much we miss you and how our lives have become impacted by not having you with us. Your laughter, your comedy and your compassion filled our lives for 30 yrs. Today, there is a void clearly defined in our lives and that is where you used to be. It may be selfish, but I wish that tonight you were here with us and celebrating your 37th. Happy birthday in Heaven, Michael...let us know every once in a while when you are with us!

Michael, I always reflect on this day, the anniversary of your memorial mass, and remember how many people came out to honor you and pay respect to you. I always take time to read the eulogy's as well as they are very comforting to me. A few days more and it will be your birthday, I can't believe that it has been 6 years without you. I miss you, your sense of humor, your smile. Your are truly missed brother. Love, Colleen

Uncle Michael, I love you and miss you with all my heart. I read your section of the 'Firehouse' book and thought, 'That was my uncle. I love him and miss him.' We all wish, the whole family, that you were back and safe, and we could all see you at the Jersey Shore. I wrote a poem about you at school, and it is hanging out in the hallway by my classroom. Many people cried after reading it, and I understand why. You are in God's hand, up in heaven. Thank you for saving the citizens of New York. I love you.

Michael, Just back off our trip to NY for Thanksgiving. Being home reminds me of you; I took my kids for a walk with PopPop to the green grass and as I looked out, pointing to the places we fished together I remembered so much of our childhood, the fishing, the swimming, the parties on silver beach. I looked out and I felt like I could feel you, like I could see you there casting away, hoping to make a big catch. There are fond memories there for me on the green grass; too many to recall, too many to ever forget. Being there is like recalling a life I lost yet remembering a life that molded me. So much of my life is rooted in your memory, too much to ever forget and always wishing to recall every moment you were involved. Help me to keep remembering every moment for I do not wish to ever forget one thing because it keeps me connected to you now and for always. I miss you big brother more than anyone can ever know. Your little sis, Colleen

i just read about michael and the tribute in ballymote sligo ireland made in his name: "the Twin Towers steelwork in the monument was presented in memory of Fire Fighter Michael Francis Lynch, 31, who died along with other brave rescue workers on the day of the attacks on America, September 11th, 2001" I can email you the link if necessary to the full story. i also understand that his mother shares the same last name as myself from the same area of sligo as my family. My father is current chieftan of the mc carrick clan. it saddened me to read about michael, as he would be just a little older than me. he seems like he was a wonderful person. my thoughts and prayers are with his family Patrick

I was assigned with Tom at Coast Stattion New Haven back in the mid 90s and all Tom could talk about was his brother Michael and how proud he was. I had the privilage of meeting Mike a few times when Michael had to drop Tom off at the station after a long weekend. Mike was fun to be around he had an energy about him that wanted you to be around him. So when 9/11 happened one of the first families I thought of was the lynch family. You see I had a strange connection with two of them. First there was colleen who went to Coast Guard the same time I did, we even placed the company flags together at graduation. Her and I always shared a laugh when we caught up with each other at Cape. May NJ. Then a year later I meet up with good old Tommy boy from the Throgs Neck area when I went to New Haven Ct. I was jokeing with Tom and told him I knew a Collen and he said yeah that is my sister she was in the Coast Guard also. Since that day him and I always had a good time at work. LOL I even remember when Tommy boy had to put make up were his eyebrowes had been the weekend before he went home Now that was funny to see. Well anyway my heart sank when I learned that Mike was missing and all I could do is feel heart ache but also realized he was doing what Tommy always talked about when it came to Mike and that is being a firemen and so he was doing what he loved on that day. That is the only peace I can find out of this is that Michael went to the heavans above on 9/11 doing wat he does best. Thomas or Colleen if you read this just know I have never forgotten you or your family. Thomas by the way I stayed in Law enforement and I am now a LT with a local department. You and colleen have my e-mail now so if you want please keep in touch. Regards, Don Schultz

Every year on this day I think of Michael. I remember praying so hard for his safe return. Thank you so much for sharing his life with us and I'll be praying for all of you. Eternal rest grant unto him ,O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

To the entire Lynch family: I wanted to let you know I have been thinking of you all day today, and not just on this anniversary. Though it has been many, many years since innocent high school days at Cardinal Spellman I often think back of good days in the Bronx and am honored to have been acquainted with your family. When I think of the Lynch "clan" the words that most often come to mind are--class, welcoming, honor, and friendship. I hope knowing that Michael is in a very special place in Heaven brings you comfort. God Bless all of you. Fond regards, John O'Keeffe
